Note:
Until the Walls Cave In is a collaboration with choreographer Troy Schumacher and architect James Ramsey. It is inspired by James's "lowline" project, an ambitious architectural undertaking and public works project that uses solar technology to illuminate an historic trolley terminal on the Lower East Side of New York City. This work is all about creating a sense of space, trying to translate the three-dimensional experience of James's architectural designs into music. The work focuses on light and dark, how shadows and sunlight might translate into musical gestures, and how walls serve as structural foundations, both as barriers that arrest momentum but also as guiding outlines that accelerate one's movement through a space.
